Nirvana is the Limit of Self-reflection, pt 58: Nine of Blades

What is clarity of vision? As we cannot see the fire for the smoke, or the forest for the trees, there is no such thing. The closest that individualized beings can get to clarity of vision is to reflect on the nature of the Self. But would this be true for non-individualized beings? In a beehive, the queen cannot live without the drones. But the drones would have no jobs without the queen. Therefore, do the drones have more clarity of vision, or does the queen? In fact, the clarity of vision rests with the queen. But an echo of it is in the dance the bees do. And the rest of her song is in the colors of the flowers in the field. As the queen bee, so the Self. At first it would appear to be an oyster, then a many-layered onion. And after so many onion layers, the legs appear on the table. We must then inherently be looking at some form of space. Some kind of undiscovered country, reflected in our dreams and perhaps even, if we are at all creative, and at all surrealists, in our creations. At once we have discovered that the effect of the, we might say, layer-cake of the Self. It is to organize reality in terms of these pyramid-shelves of the soul. It is to put reality to the test, in every single case. Sleep is the great equalizer, because it makes the beggar look equal to the king. It has one flaw, which is that it looks like death.
